I used to use different waxes according to the temperature of the water I was surfing (- cool, warm, tropical, etc..,) but Bubble Gum's warm water wax has become the main wax I use pretty much regardless of temperature. It's a good combination of stickiness and hardness and it forms the best bumps.

Cool and cold water waxes may be a bit stickier in colder waters, but they also turn black and disgusting pretty quickly, which speeds up the yellowing of your surfboard.

Most of the time I'll put Bubble Gum's warm water wax on top of any old base coat. If there's a really serious heaving day out, sometimes I'll throw a layer of stickier wax over that as a top coat- like Zogs Dream Cream or Bubble Gum Gu.

One of the best smelling waxes out there too. Can't go wrong.
