i ride a 6'4" Al Merrick flyer with Futures. I am 5'11" and 180lb. Th
e board came with Future, AM1 composites. That fin was way too loose, ragdolled on late takes, and lacked drive. A friend gave me a set of fiberglass Honeycomb Fea. A very predictable fin, but very stiff on surf in the waist to chest range. For me a good fin for Hurricane surf. So, i spent just over a 100 bucks for the Black Stix V2 FEA. Since the first time I surfed them, they have been the perfect fin. They are super fast, due to the V2 foil. It's amazing the amount of speed they generate. while at the same time the board has good hold, but isnt tight. I surf them with power, drive passed closout sectiions like never before. I havent had the had them in big surf, but thats not what i bought them for. i bought them for the typical thigh to chest high waves we get on the East Coast. if you,ve been looking for a fin, you have to try this one!
